💘 Smitten

Legal, privacy & support

Effective: October 23, 2026  ·  smitten.gamethesky.com is made by Game the Sky, an independent developer (“we”, “us”), the same person behind Race the Sky and Golf the Sky.

These are Smitten’s own notes. They add to Game the Sky’s shared Terms of Use, Privacy Policy and Content Policy, which cover every game; where they differ, the shared ones win.

Terms of Service

The game

Smitten is a free browser game. You can play as a guest, or as any Bluesky handle you type in, with nothing but a browser. Signing in with your own Bluesky (AT Protocol) account lets the game save your matches and your Closet to your account. We never create accounts, usernames, or passwords of our own, and you must meet Bluesky’s own age and account requirements (currently 13+) to sign in. There is nothing to buy.

Fair play

In live matches our game server runs the match and decides every hit; your browser only sends what you pressed. You agree not to cheat, automate play, flood the server, or exploit bugs to spoil other people’s matches. We may disconnect anyone who does, and we may reset or reorganize anything competitive. The match records your browser saves are written by your own browser, so we treat them as your own notes, not as proof of anything.

Your content

Your Bluesky handle, display name, and avatar are shown as you — your face is your bobblehead, which is the point — and remain governed by your Bluesky account. If you type in a handle instead of signing in, please only use your own. Matches you save are records in your own Bluesky repository; by saving them you let us and other players display them within the game, including on stats pages.

The usual conditions

The warranty, liability, governing-law and change terms are the studio’s shared ones, in Game the Sky’s Terms of Use.

Privacy Policy

The short version: we run no ads, no analytics, and no trackers; there are no payments; your records live in your own Bluesky data repository; and the only thing our game server keeps is each live match’s replay, for 30 days.

What signing in actually permits

When you sign in, Bluesky asks you to approve what this game may do with your account. We ask for your identity (atproto) and permission to write two kinds of record, by name, and nothing else:

That is the entire grant. The game cannot post as you, cannot follow or unfollow anyone, cannot read your private preferences or messages, and cannot touch any data outside those two names — not because we promise not to, but because the permission you granted does not extend that far. The Save my matches switch on the menu (on by default) stops match records entirely. Every record the game writes is in your own repository, public like the rest of it, and you can delete any of it from your Bluesky account at any time without asking us. You can also revoke this application’s access entirely from your Bluesky settings. Your sign-in session is kept in your own browser.

Playing without signing in

If you type in a handle, the game looks up that handle’s public profile (name and avatar) from Bluesky’s public API and plays as it, without any verification that it is yours, and writes nothing to any Bluesky account. As a guest you get a made-up name, and nothing about you is looked up at all.

The live game server

When you play live, your browser connects to our game server and tells it who you are (handle, display name, and avatar link) and what you’re wearing, then sends your controls as you play. The server holds that in memory only while you’re connected — the lobby, your room, your party — and forgets it when you leave. As with any connection, the server can see your network address; it doesn’t record it.

The one thing it keeps is a replay of each live match: every player’s handle, display name, avatar link and outfit, where everyone moved and what they did, and the results. Replays are what let you rewatch and share a match. Anyone with a replay’s link can watch it (they’re served at /replay/<id>), and the stats pages link to them. Every replay is deleted automatically after 30 days. Practice matches run entirely in your browser and are never sent to us.

Other things the game reads

What stays on your device

Your browser’s local storage keeps your last-used handle, your settings (sound, music, mouse sensitivity, graphics, aim assist), your outfit, emote wheel and unlock progress, and the two switches above. A guest’s made-up name lasts only as long as the browser tab. None of this leaves your device except as described above.

What we don’t do

Your rights

Because your matches and Closet are in your own repository, you can read, export, and delete them yourself. To have a replay you appear in removed before its 30 days are up, write to legal@gamethesky.com with the replay’s link and your handle.
